Supplement or Advantage?James MacDougall2017-03-01T14:07:42+00:00
What's the difference?
Medicare supplements and Advantage plans solve the same problem, but take two differing ways in providing that solution.
Medicare Supplements
Keep Original Medicare
Medicare Supplements work along side your Parts A & B, providing additional benefits that aren’t covered by Original Medicare. This includes covering the 20% that would be your responsibility if you chose to have only Parts A & B. It is a great option for those who want flexibility in their doctor choices.
Advantage Plans
Drop Parts A & B
Medicare Advantage plans also provide benefits that are not covered under Parts A & B, but they do it by passing your care and insurance off to the insurance company of your choice. Benefits are just as robust as through a Medicare Supplement, but may be more limited in networks based on which plan you choose.
